Different Types Of Extensions
1 - Clip-In Hair Extensions
Clip-in hair extensions are a type of weft hair with clips sewn at the root of one side. Depending on the material, there are two types: synthetic clip-ins and human hair clip-ins. Both types are excellent for adding length and volume to your hair.
Clip-in extensions are typically quicker to apply compared to other types of extensions. They also don't damage your natural hair because their installation doesn't require pressure, heat, or chemicals. Despite the variety of hair extensions available, clip-in extensions often stand out as the best choice.
Who should use clip-in hair extensions? Essentially, anyone can use them. However, it can be a bit challenging to hide the clips if you have short hair. To achieve a natural look, ask your hairstylist to blend the clip-in extensions seamlessly with your hair.
2 - Tape-In Hair Extensions
Tape-in hair extensions are a type of semi-permanent hair extension pre-taped with medical-grade adhesive. They can be made from either synthetic fibers or real human hair. The installation process involves taping or gluing the extensions to both sides of your natural hair.
When installing tape-in hair extensions, your hairstylist will use heating tools to secure them to your natural hair. While the application of high heat poses some risk of damage, tape-in extensions are known for their comfort during daily wear. If I had to choose a hair extension method to add length, it would be tape-in.
The hairdresser applies the extensions by heating the glue with a specialized tool. For removal, a glue remover should be used. The use of heat at the roots and on the glue can potentially cause significant damage to your natural hair. If the extensions are in good condition, the application process can be completed in about 40 minutes.
How long do tape-in extensions last? They look their best for the first 4-5 weeks, until your natural hair grows about an inch. Removing them can be challenging because they are firmly attached. Despite this, if I had to choose a hair extension method to add length, it would be tape-in.
